WHO CAN ENROL?

Here at the International School of Zanzibar we welcome children from all nationalities and educational backgrounds. At ISZ we aim to provide and education for children of all ability levels through good teaching, support and differentiation. We have a morning (7.45am – noon) nursery section for children who are 3 years of age and for students aged between 4 and 6 the day runs from 7.45 am to 2pm. All other classes start at 7.45 am and run until 3pm.

Children who are admitted from year 3 upwards will sit preliminary exams in maths and English. So we can judge their ability and level and see if they need any extra support or further work to extend them. We do not as a rule accept students during term time. We believe that the best time to start is at the beginning of a term or half term. This makes settling in for the student easier and means there is less disruption to classes and other students in the school.

Children who have English as a second language are admitted and given intensive support where necessary through our support teachers, ESL teachers and ESL club.

In the case of KS4 secondary students wishing to enrol in the IGCSE program it is really impossible for anyone to start these courses half way through so it must be started at year 10 only.

The admittance of any student is at the discretion of the Head teacher
