KEY STAGE 1 (YEARS 1-2)


 

 

 

Key Stage 1 (Years 1-2)


 

This Key Stage builds on the foundations laid down in The Early Years and offers your child the chance to flourish. We encourage independence, responsibility, good interpersonal skills and how to care for your environment.


The British National Curriculum is followed with some variations to make topics more relevant to the children of Zanzibar. Students experience exciting challenges and learning experiences daily.

 

 

 

Assessment


 

Our students are assessed informally on a continuous daily basis by their class teachers. They are often tested at the end of units of work or topics to assess what they have learned in class


 

At the end of year 2 students sit ‘Optional Tests’ These are designed around the old SATs papers and are used to assess their progress and understanding in English and Maths.

 

 

Homework


 

Reading is an important part of homework. Students are expected to read to an adult at home each day. Learning, practical and written homework is given to Key Stage One (Years One and Two)
