KEY STAGE 2 (YEARS 3-6)

Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6)

Our curriculum builds upon the foundations laid in Key Stage 1.  We develop students’ knowledge of the world, their skills and creativity. The students are taught by their class teachers in the following subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, ICT, CPSHE (citizenship, personal, social, health education) and Performing Arts. Specialist teachers teach students, Art, French, PE and Swimming.

Assessment

Every student is continually assessed daily and they are tested regularly to track progress that is being made. Year 3-6 are given ‘Optional Tests’, which are based on the old SAT’s. These are given at the end of the year and help us to assess their progress in the core subjects of Maths, English and Science.

Homework

Homework is given to enable our students to practice skills and consolidate knowledge introduced in class. Daily reading at home is an integral part of a pupil's homework. In Year 3 to Year 4 the children are given approximately 1hour and 30 minutes of written/practical homework a week. Whereas, in Year 5 and 6 this increases to 30 minutes a day, we expect the children to complete their homework independently (tutoring is not recommended) and difficulties should be reported to your child's teacher, so that help may be given.
