We envision our graduates making impactful changes locally in Zanzibar, nationally in Tanzania, across the African continent, and globally. The ISZ Scholarship Programme offers Zanzibari children the chance to join our vibrant community, providing mutual opportunities for learning and teaching.
As a school, ISZ is committed to broadening students’ opportunities to access the education we offer by providing financial support for outstanding Zanzibari students who would otherwise be unable to afford the tuition and fees.
Our scholarship covers all program costs from Year 9 in Secondary School, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder a student’s educational journey.
The specific aim of the scholarship is to provide opportunities for low income Zanzibari students to participate in an academically rich and culturally diverse experience that is unique in Zanzibar.
Through this program, we are living our Mission: To provide a balanced and innovative international education that enables students to achieve their individual potential while preparing them to be successful citizens who make positive contributions to society and the world.
Scholarships are offered by ISZ for entry to YEAR 9 (ages 15 or below)
The Scholarship programme will be offered for entry in YEAR 9 and will include full cover of tuition fees, school uniform, books and other materials, a tablet computer, Cambridge exam fees, transportation, school lunch, the fees for field trips etc. The capital levy fee is waived and covered by the Scholarship. Scholarships last for the duration of the student’s time at ISZ provided they remain in good academic and social standing at the school. Scholarships may be revoked for poor academic performance or behaviour.
The shortlisted candidates will sit for two Cambridge Year 9 Checkpoint Exams for both English and Mathematics. Together with the assessment and examinations, candidates are expected to demonstrate personal determination and show evidence of independent thinking, curiosity and respect, in line with our values.
Application Process
- Completed Scholarship Application Form 2026
- A reference letter from the Principle
- A personal statement of 500 words in English (to be written without assistance)
- Form 2 standardised test. Must include an ‘A’ in English and Mathematics
- Candidates will sit two Cambridge checkpoint assessments at ISZ and respond to a writing prompt.
Applications are screened by a Scholarship Committee, and scholarships are awarded in May each year. Financial need is assessed through a Finance Disclosure form, supported by relevant documentation.
