Life on Zanzibar
Students at ISZ outside of the classroom and their sports and activities are invited to take part and be change-makers in the form of a few student run organisations.
Student Council:
The student council is open to all students who are in Year 7 or older. Students are elected to offices by the secondary student body. Individual class representatives are elected within their respective classes.
The objectives of the Student Council are to:

- Represent the voice of the students regarding school matters: Advocate for your peers and ensure their voices are heard.
- Develop unity and school spirit among the students: Organise events and initiatives that bring students together and foster a sense of community.
- Maintain communications and establish strong relations between the students and the administration: Act as a bridge between students and school leaders to improve the overall school experience.
- Set and prioritise goals specific to the student body’s needs each year: Identify key areas for improvement and work towards achieving them.
- Provide feedback on and suggest amendments to school policies to create a better atmosphere for students: Propose changes that enhance student life and well-being.
- Develop and update the constitution to ensure the council can respond to the needs of the students as deemed necessary: Ensure the council remains relevant and effective in addressing student concerns.
Girl UP
Started in 2020, student initiative start up ISZ Girl Up Club, This club was inspired by the United Nations Foundation Girl Up.
Girl Up ignites the empowerment of girls, by girls around the world. In partnership with the United Nations, we stand up for girls, speak up for programs that help them thrive, and rise up as a community of advocates out to change the world, for good.
A worldwide initiative was brought to the school grounds of ISZ, now with the majority of ISZ students acting as officers, members and leaders of the club, we are confident that they are positioning themselves to be the next generation of leaders.
